ALKARGO SOCIEDAD COOPERATIVA began its activity in 1966.

Its production programme started out with distribution transformers of up to 2500 kVA in the 36 kV series.

In 1986 Alkargo extended its range and began to manufacture encapsulated dry-type transformers, with medium power transformers also coming into production at the end of the 1980s.

In 1991 Alkargo embarked on a complete make-over of its installations and production means and invested heavily in a state-of-the-art production plant.

In order to respond to the demands of a highly competitive market, where a Quality Guarantee was of vital importance, in 1996 Alkargo attained the UNE-EN-ISO 9001/94 Certificate of Company Registration.
Some of ALKARGO's main clients today are the top Spanish Electrical Companies, Telefónica, the energy group Repsol, the airport authority Aena and the national rail group Renfe. It also provides transformers for steelworks, sheet metal rolling companies, cogeneration plants, wind-power plants, hospitals, hypermarkets, the shipbuilding sector, the paper industry, foundries, public buildings, etc.
